Wilderness Systems Pamlico Excel 16' Kayak w/Electric Motor & Pontoons in very good condition This is a Two/Three person "Sit-In" Kayak. It is equivalent to the current Pamlico 14.5' but 16 feet. It sits two adults comfortably and a child or small person can fit in the middle. I use that space to store things and in particular the batteries for the Electric Motor I installed. This Kayak is very strong and stable.
It has good reviews everywhere it is mentioned. I am not using it much so I am selling it. Last year I did a custom Pontoon System so I could add stability and mount an Electric Motor. This makes this Kayak a very good fishing option. It has plenty of room for storage, added stability and good speed and range with the Electric Motor, which I am including in this sale.
The added stability makes it safe out in Biscayne Bay (The bay outside Miami) which sometimes becomes very choppy. It performs beautifully even in very choppy waters (Still, always wear a lifejacket, ok?) I am including an Electric Minkotta Riptide 40Lbs Thrust Saltwater Series Trolling Motor. It probably has less than 20 hrs. Of use. I purchased it new for a small sailboat I used to have.
Never really used it. Plastic is yellow just from being stored in the shed. The lower unit may benefit from some sanding and painting. The Motor runs like new. It has 5 speeds forward and three reverse.
Height can be adjusted to suit the depth and type of boat you are using. I have done a 1 hour run on a Size 24 battery (Regular Auto Size) at full speed. By the end of the hour the speed of the Kayak went from 4.3 Mph to 3.9 Mph showing that charge had been depleted probably by 30%. I assume that you can get a full day's run at a slightly slower speed on a type 29 battery. Trust me, it is a pleasure to cruise at that speed with no effort in Miami's heat... :-) I am including the inflatable float that goes in the rear of the Kayak to provide flotation in case of capsizing.
Also, I am including two double paddles and the skirt that prevents water from entering the sitting area. The seats are a little worn out but still very usable. The pontoons were done using plumbing PVC Pipes. They were sealed with the proper Oatey Primer and Cement. The pontoon themselves were filled with foam so they will continue to provide flotation in the unlikely event they are filled with water.
The pontoon is secured to the Kayak with Stainless Steel Marine grade bolts and locking nuts. The Pontoon assembly can be installed and removed in about 5 minutes if you want to use the Kayak as a standard rowing Kayak. Some people have added a sail to similar kayaks and since this one already has the pontoons, you can probably do that too. Since I use the Kayak where other boats roam around, I painted the pontoons bright orange so they would not run over me. The paint has faded from the sun and you may want to repaint them.
This Kayak can be fitted with a rudder. The bracket and cables are there but I never had the rudder.
