Used Ocean Sit On Top 2 Plus 1 Kayak

Ocean malibu two XL sit on top kayak. 2 adults plus 1 child or dog plus day trip gear easily. There are many reviews of such kayaks online. It is used by many hires centres because of its stability and durability. It is 84 cm wide, so we have never capsized it, in spite of children jumping in off it!

. The double plastic layer design is great. It is self bailing -you can see the holes in the pics, so combine that with air layer between the 2 hull layers the buoyancy is excellent. If water splashes in it drains out. Due to use on gravelly beaches on Coniston and Windermere there are some deep scratches (see pics) - it was bought ex-hire from a local kayak centre. We tried it and loved its stable feel.

Price does include decent sturdy seats plus 1 paddle. The seats will allow you to stay on the water longer and paddle better. Generally rigid kayaks paddle better than inflatables and last longer and tolerate family use with no worrying about rocks and punctures. It has 2 screw-tight store"pots" for your keys and first -aid kit, but I always bag them. There is also 1 paddle included, as you can paddle it solo.

The paddle is 2 section for easy transport. The kayak is 410cm long, 86.4cm wide and weighs a hefty 31kg, so you do need to 2 adults and appropriate canoe carrier+straps on your roof bars. Best on an estate car or van. Best used on lakes and slow rivers. I am happy to answer questions about them (selling 2 almost identical).

The difference is that this one (model number ending 915, as shown on photo) is missing one screw for retaining the skid plate. I have cleaned and oiled the metal thread which works fine. Under the dark plastic skid plate is the solid outer hull. Both are fine and the skid plate has 3of 4 screws, so unless someone was to drag it everywhere.on the skid plate.. We prefer to carry it to reduce abrasion scratches, but kayaks do get scratches! You can see in pics.
