OCEAN KAYAK FRENZY with double paddle and backrestThe ultimate 'Sit-On-Top' kayak - stable design with an open cockpit and self-bailing scupper holesThe moulded-in seat and foot wells fit all sizes of paddlers *Please note that the kayak needs a plug - see below* It was bought new in 2002 and used on a river. Since 2010 it has been stored in a garage and not used. We are now moving house, hence sale. It is in good condition with a few scratches commensurate with age and use. However, in preparing the kayak for sale, we noticed that a plug is missing and can only assume that this happened when it was last moved.
I have contacted companies dealing in Ocean Kayaks and have made enquiries about this. This is the most useful and informative reply that I received: The small white plug between your legs on the Frenzy model is called a spin plug and they are not designed to be opened or removed. The rotomolding process for making a kayak requires that a mold be allowed to “breathe” during heating and cooling. We accomplish this by inserting a vent tube (or tubes) into the mold. This vent tube is removed after the boat begins to cool down and solidify, leaving a hole in the boat where the tube was.
Naturally, this hole must be sealed to prevent water ingress. This is accomplished by the use of this “spin plug”. The spin plug is placed over the vent tube hole and spun with a special tool so fast that it melts the plastic on the boat and the spin plug, making them one piece, and permanently sealing the vent tube hole. We don’t ship internationally so your best bet may be to find an aftermarket plug to plug the hole, or patch it completely with a plastic weld repair or 2-part adhesive with fiberglass cloth. Feel free to contact your local dealer and they may be able to assist you with something like this.
It is clear from this reply that the spin plug should not have come loose, so it is a mystery why that has happened. However, for someone with the right knowledge and expertise, replacing it or finding a suitable alternative solution, should hopefully be quite straightforward. THE KAYAK CANNOT BE USED UNTIL THIS HAS BEEN DONE. I should also point out that one side of a buckle on one of the straps is missing (please see photo). We are including a Junior Gul Buoyancy Aid.On 25-Jul-20 at 13:35:06 BST, seller added the following information: Some additional information:Length 9’ (2.75m)Max load 23st (147kg)Weight 45lbs (20kg)
