Color: Grey Wilderness Systems no longer makes the Freedom. All modern sit-on-tops are designed to maximize stability but sacrifice speed. The is a Greenland style kayak that at 15 feet is the fastest sit-on-top that I have ever paddled (I used to paddle a Heritage Sea Dart which is a similar design). It has excellent secondary stability and will not capsize easily with its 28.5" of beam. It tracks well and will not get pushed sideways by even 15-20 mph winds.

It turns well without a rudder if one leans into the turn (it has a place for side thigh straps for extreme turning). It has a single scupper that drains easily and rapidly, has large hatches with lots of storage (I can store a five rod case in the front hatch). The plastic is thick (hence the 64lb weight) and as far as I am concerned that is a good thing compared to other manufacturers who use paper-thin plastic. With local oyster bars, hidden logs, pilings, and other potential puncture devices the added thickness gives a lot of structural security. It has strong adjustable foot pegs and beefy handles.

I have a Toyota Tacoma with a roof rack and the kayak slides easily onto the rack and I tie it down with two simple straps.
