WAVESPORT ETHOS 10 BLACKOUT The Wavesport Ethos 10 offers a stable, forgiving platform with plenty of storage space. It has a performance-minded design which includes a whitewater-focused rocker profile and a progressive chine, making the Ethos 10 manoeuvrable in rapids, yet track well on flat water with the help of a drop down skeg system. If you are looking for a kayak which offers you the opportunity to play both in the rapids and cruise on the flat water in between, look no further than the Wavesport Ethos 10. Wavesport Ethos 10 in the most popular cherry bomb colour. Owned from new, this was my first kayak so went for an all rounder to start with but after 6 months use ended up buying a play boat and a creeker so this one has hardly been used for a year now, I have also bought a surf boat recently so need the room in my garage hence having a clear out by selling this one.
It is perfectly water tight and in good condition with usual scuffs and scratches from being used and launched but none that are deep or that affect its integrity. I have tried to get the best photos I can of it but buyers are very welcome to call and view it. Nearest place to try it out would be the river Tees at Stockton by the barrage which I have paddled it on before. The boat has a cockpit ratchet strap system so once in the boat you can adjust the position of the back rest to give comfortable support and improve posture, so important to avoid back ache when paddling as well as to make sure you are sat correctly and in contact with the boat for positive control. The Wavesport Ethos is an excellent all rounder and this is the 10 model so fits the larger paddler having good volume, I am 6 foot tall and weight between 16 and 17 stone (all measurements taken before Christmas ha ha) and it fits me easily.
It has a foot plate which is easily adjustable for length and a fixed centre foam bulkhead for additional buoyancy. It comes with the blackout outfitting as standard and all of this is in excellent condition as you would expect after such little usage. I have paddled the Tees several times and also the Tryweryn plus the Dee in Wales when I went there for a weeks kayak training and it performed admirably. When in touring mode a drop down skeg makes for really easy straight line paddling or drifting, spring loaded on a pull chord easily adjusted from the cockpit while on the move all works just fine. In the rear is a water tight bulkhead with access hatch you can keep quite a lot of gear dry in, I would recommend keeping stuff in a dry bag all the same but unless the hatch comes off everything in the back will stay dry as I can testify to having rolled and swum on occasion.
The hatch lid is a snug fit but easy to get off or on so holds tight when upside down should you roll over. Having a sealed rear section means you don't need inflation bags at the back like in other boats. A stable boat in very good condition, buyer collects from my home (post code TS11) near Redcar outside of office hours or could pick up from my work address near Stockton (post code TS23) during weekdays, I am about 3 miles from the barrage incidentally. I am keeping the spray deck and paddle for use with my other boats so this sale is for the boat only with no extra items included. You can Google for more descriptions, reviews and you tube footage to learn more about this model, here is a link to one such review by canoe and kayak magazine so go and read what others say about the great all-rounder.
I learned to kayak from scratch in this boat and so did my wife, as somebody who is very nervous on the water she also loved it so much she has bought her own the Wavesport Ethos 9 which is 12 inches shorter and more suited to her size. https://www.canoekayak.com/gear/wave-sport-ethos-10/
