NuCanoe Frontier 12 Fishing Kayak Canoe Boat Tender SUP 2 Person tandem Swivel Seats carbon paddle wheels Rod Holders For sale, my well used but never abused, much beloved NuCanoe Frontier 12 Kayak / Canoe / Boat / Tender hybrid. I’ve had this from new for a few years now. Ultra ultra stable and roomy craft. With super comfy folding swivel seats (sit off the deck with knees bent & so you stay dry!). These seats are from NuCanoe (and branded) but are designed for small boats, yet still nice and lightweight - This is the comfiest kayak you will ever sit in, period.
Seats have stainless-steel swivels; in fact all fastenings are stainless-steel throughout the whole kayak set-up. NuCanoe is a US company, www.nucanoe.com and are made in the US and feel totally bomb-proof. No Chinese crap here. The NuCanoe website is great and all parts and accessories are all available – new seat styles available now etc. You can even add an aftermarket pedal drive system to the Frontier 12 too now I see: https://www.nucanoe.com/product/frontier-12-pivot-drive-ships-in-dec/ The hull is 12 foot long and over 1 meter wide which makes it super stable!
You can actually sit on the edge of the gunwales with your legs over the side and it will not flip over! It’s amazing. It has 4 grooves underneath, so tracking is just super straight, yet it still turns quite well with the overall hull profile being rounded. The deck has 2x scupper holes so the whole thing will self-bail if/when required. There is a dry hatch up at the front with a removable dry bag for valuables and clothes yet still allows full access to the whole hull if required for storage / rods etc or for stowing the dismantled wheels when not in use.
The hull has the usual screw drain plug one side for washing and emptying. The hull also has a small flat transom in the stern so it will take a small petrol outboard (up to 2.5HP) or an electric trolling motor. I’ve used it with both my 2.3 Honda 4 stroke & Shakespeare 120 and both are fab. I prefer the petrol version though – faster and no battery to worry about or get in the way on the deck. The deck uses 2 long parallel stainless-steel rails to connect and move the seats / rod holders / fish-finders / anything (that use standard T-nuts) around the deck – literally infinitely customisable for 1 or 2 people.
The deck also has a crate-space inc. Webbing stap and strong clip for a standard kayak accessory milk create / cool box / battery box etc. Included in the sale are the unique NuCanoe wheels. The wheel attachment design is probably one of the best features of the NuCanoe design as they fit in centre of the transom, allowing the hole hull to spin on its axis. This makes moving and loading the hull on top of a car super super easy (you never have to lift the whole weight) – see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?
V=VQhNuLW895M Therefore, no ‘J Bars’ etc are required for this kayak, you only need 2 standard car cross bars and two 3m cam-straps - that’s it. There are a quite a few extras included with this sale: · Top-of-the-line 2-piece NuCanoe Carbon fibre paddle (Made by SunRay). Its slightly longer than the norm - to be able to paddle whilst standing up if required (great for sighting fish in shallow water) · 2x RAM Tube rod holders · 3x 1.5” RAM attachment balls (with T Nuts) · 4x Mighty Mount brackets (for T Nuts) · Full-length anchor trolley · 2x Zig cleats · 2x paddle bungees · Pad eyes everywhere · 2x NuCanoe T-toggles (for lifting) · Stand up / mooring rope & clip (to pull yourself up to standing in front seat) · Wheels (puncture resistant foam filled) – can be dismantled with split-rings · 2 Scupper plugs / bungs · Full owners & accessory manuals · 2 extra / spare seat bases - inc. One of the newer lightweight composite bases, which sits slightly higher. (I removed this one day in some very rough conditions as the seat was a little high).
And also, another standard seat base with pad eyes fitted for a normal soft kayak style seat (not included). I’m only selling all this as I’ve sold my car recently and bought a small motorhome and use it as my daily-driver, so I now can’t get the NuCanoe on the roof of my vehicle any longer (van is nearly 3 meters tall) so I’ve gone down the SIB route instead. The SIB packs up in the back of the van. Gutted really as nothing comes close to the NuCanoe for what I do (Guide people Saltwater Fly Fishing). Well over £2K when new.
