Klepper 2 Man Aerius Ii Expedition Folding Kayak - Complete!

We are the 2nd owners of this Klepper Aerius II Expedition kayak. Our brother-in-law was first owner and bought it new in 1988. He wanted something safe to take his kids out in the bays and big rivers around New England. He didn't use it often and neither have we in the 15 years we've owned it. We last paddled it about 6 years ago.

It's been stored in our dry garage. The boat itself has all the original parts. It comes packed in the 3 original canvas bags that are in good condition (one bag has a broken zipper pull). The wood frame is complete and in good condition. All clips are intact and pieces fit together nicely.

2 seats are included and in good condition except for the foam cushion of the rear seat which is deteriorating and needs repair or replacement. The kayak comes with a rudder kit, but the rudder foot pedal is missing. The original Klepper skin has a blue deck with the Expedition's black, extra thick, reinforced Hypalon hull. The air sponsons are fully functional. Included is hull patch kit that comes with extra rubber, deck material, and 2 extra sponson plugs.

Considering its age, the skin looks pretty good, but does have several issues which seem repairable. Please read following description and see photos. Top decking has one small hole smaller than a quarter, but is otherwise in good condition (there is extra deck material in the included hull patch kit). Exterior hull has two small spots where rubber is chipped off, and the bow and stern hull areas have some separation from the reinforced area that needs gluing down. Rest of exterior hull is solid with no cracks or deterioration that I can see.

Interior of hull has some areas of fine "alligator skin" cracks along the interior side walls near the seats, plus three areas where rubber has peeled off. The boat was seaworthy 6 years ago when we last paddled it, but because of the current condition of the skin, I cannot guarantee it is seaworthy now, as is, without repairs mentioned above. Kayak is 17-ft long and 33-in wide and weighs about 72 lbs. Total weight in 3 bags is about 88 lbs. Payload limit is 840 lbs.
