Epic v7 Surfski Kayak

This is a plastic roto-molded surf-ski in lightly-used condition. I’ve paddled year round in Austin - it’s never really too cold and used it for the Buffalo Bayou Regatta in Houston. In one of the great marketing disasters they called these boats surf-skis to make the point that they can handle huge swells and stay up-right. The problem is that they’re equally fast on flat water but people don’t realize it because of the name. Basic kayaks don’t come close and they are frustrating for actual fitness work.

This takes any piece of water and turns it in to a proper work-out. These have a reputation for being hard to learn but Epic designed this one to get people in to the sport. I bought this boat new from the good people at TG Canoes in Austin 2015 (I have the receipt ). I’ve used it to train and race on Town Lake and I’ve paddled the length of Lake Austin in it once. It’s never been on anything but fresh water and it’s stored on cloth stools so it won’t warp.

I’m including the carbon paddle but I’ll keep it if you don’t want it (I’ll be back to the sport someday). The light is useful in the mornings as sculls don’t see much. I usually walk to boat down to the lake from my place on the trailer and it’s really useful (the slowest thing about the boat is stopping to explain what it is). The boat isn’t heavy but it is long so the cart makes getting around much easier. The total cost of this package new is about $2,300 with taxes.
