Down River Racer (Drr) K1 Kayak

Down River Racer (DRR) Kayak. Kevlar construction with carbon fibre reinforcements. Very light and fast, and goes like you would expect a DRR to go - not much primary stability but heaps of secondary stability and floatation. The rougher the water gets the better she goes. It is a racing boat so it is quick, light and nimble.

I used it in the Gloucester Mountain Man Trichallenge. It is about 20 years old and has been patched more times than I can count. She is not pretty - I think fugly is the best description - but the hull is straight, smooth and fast. There is no point making a DRR look pretty as it is just going to get scratches all over it. But I always kept the hull straight and smooth so it would race well.
