A key question with SUP paddles is always - do they float? This paddle has foam in the top part of the paddle shaft preventing almost any water entering, and even when held 3 feet under water for 5 minutes it still floats immediately ( even in fresh water which is less bouyant than salt water). So this paddle is guaranteed to float in both salt water and fresh water.
