15 Ft Venture Light Touring Kayak

Looking to step up to a capable light touring kayak but do not want to pay the big price? This one's an oldie but a goodie. Venture Trinity Bay 15" poly-plasic light touring kayak. These were one of the early, probably 1970's or 1980's genre' of light touring kayaks. I have had this one in 2-3 ft swells in Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, down Letchworth Gorge, class 2 rapids, crossed Niagara River, side surfed and front surf class 2 holes, taken trips of 13-17 miles in a day, and found this to be a capable comfortable boat, and God now how may trips down Oak Orchard Creek, and I am a big guy about 275.

It fits a Seals 1.7 spray skirt and weighs about 60# The rear hatch is not watertight, so you should either get a 3/8" rubber sheet to use as a gasket or stuff a gym ball in the back hatch. Anything off shore or in deep water you should get float bags at your local kayak shop for the front. Its a little faded after all those years, but its not cracked or split, nor does it leak. There's a little oil canning in the hull from long ago, but it does not seem to affect anything. Seat is in great shape, deck lines are new.

Straps on seat and hatch covers are strong but stiff from age. Foot pegs are not functional, but may be replaceable if so desired. There appears to be holes in the hull to install a rudder.
