29 Mar 19 This is a great fishing kayak if you are a weekend angler and not going to do tournaments. Its sturdy and stable. It has two downfall to me, one being the the seat is extremely uncomfortable if youre in the kayak fir any length of time (I replaced in with a stadium seat and its great now. And the second, and pretty major issue for anglers) is that the hatch cover right in front of your legs, is now garbage. Its now rounded, so you cant add Velcro and attach your fishing too tray to it, and it snaps on instead of screwing on.

So water gets in the hull easier now. With all that being said, I own two Tamaracks. One for fishing with the flat top hatch cover, with my fishing tool box velcroed to it, and another one that I let my clients and friends use if they are coming with me. It is extremely stable, feature packed, comfortable, and paddles extremely well. It is perfect for a simple day on the water or a day of fishing. I have zero complaints about the kayak, the paddle it comes with however is a little short for beginners who are new to paddling but what would make it exceptional would be drip stoppers.

So anxious to try it I put in in 55 degree water yesterday and ran a 30 minute test. It yielded a five star result. I am 75, 62, and 225 with some balance issues. As stable as my $1000 Ride and same weight as my sit inside Pungo 120. It carried me quite well, did not feel tippy at all, was reasonably dry, and was quite fishable.

I provide a house near the beach for the entire family and have lots of kayaks for communal usage including multiple $1000 yaks I bought used. This one will be used by me the most because of its weight and stability. I wouldnt choose this boat if you want to paddle several miles and carry a ton of stuff because it is by no means a racer and yaws quite a bit when paddling. Because of its low profile, it does not respond to the wind and acted no differently whether upwind, downwind, or abeam. I was so impressed that I purchased the cheaper version(only one hatch and no rodholder) afterwards with a coupon and got it even cheaper.

For serious stuff in the keys or long distance paddling in the gulf, Ill still use the Ride or the Pungo, but for 90 percent of the time Ill be floating along on my WallMart special. I looked mine over , but i didnt look extensively. Once i picked it up and got it home, I found a large gash in an area of it. I considered bringing it back for a return/exchange , however it was in an area that wouldnt be getting any rough contact, so I opted to just keep it and overlook the damage.

After all , these things are going to get scratches during use. Theyre plastic!! Nonetheless, associates need to be more mindful and careful when shipping these. Tamarack should box these kayaks or wrap them in an insulative material to prevent such damage from occurring. If i could have gotten an instant return/exchange , Id have done so, but as it was, I couldnt afford to wait another 2 weeks and miss out on the summer season.

First outing was to pick up 30+ duck decoys stranded by excess rains in the area. The kayak was very stable and easy to paddle in all directions to pick up the decoys.

Replacement of broken and missing parts 19 Dec 18 I bought three of these this summer and have mot had a chance to use them yet but am hanging them up in a hunting lodge and noticed missing and damaged parts at the bow of the kayak. I emailed lifetime and they immediatey shipped the parts at no expense to me. I was very impressed with the customer service and just sent them a picture if the broken and kissing parts and the next thing I knew I recieved an email with order and then then another with shipping confirmation. A very rugged kayak 8 Dec 18 This is an extremely rugged kayak. My son was using it in a small lake after some very heavy rain. He got too close to the spillway which had white water rushing over it and couldnt control the kayak to get clear of it so he jumped out. ( A nice feature of a flat bottom boat) Thank God he was safe but the kayak went over the spillway which is 25 ft tall and all concrete. The pressure of the water was intense not only because of the fall but the white water.

The only damage was a few deep scratches and I had to tighten the screw that held the adjustable back rest. It is heavier than my other kayaks, and takes more effort but it is worth it.After I had back surgery I had trouble getting in my sit in kayaks. This one is very quick and easy to get in and out of. Love fishing and this yak is a good fit for me! Purchased September 2018. It is light enough that I can pick the front of it up on the tailgate and into the back of my truck and slides right in. As light as it is I can handle this by myself.It feels real stable on the water. Ive been fresh and saltwater fishing in it but most of my fishing is in lakes.

I will say it doesnt track as well as my buddies 12 footer but after using it you figure out the best way to paddle it straight.I like the three rod holders, two flush and one on the gunnel. I like the hatch lids being hinged and secured with a bungee. The scupper holes work well but you need to buy plugs for them. I purchased a cart that utilizes the two scupper holes behind the seat and this makes transporting the yak a breeze. A couple of places I go are 200+ yards from the parking lot .

Overall I rate this 5 stars and when I got it Walmart had a sale and got it for $190. What a good deal! Also I found a kayak outfitter on youtube that did a test on the best of 5 yaks for under $500 and this Tamarack Angler was his choice and his shop did not sell them but he was going to after this test.For the money you cant beat it! This my third purchase of this model kayak we now have one for myself, my wife and most recently my brother. The hull design is extremely stable and Lifetime does an excellent job with the molding/manufacturing process.

I really like the new hatch design as opposed to the design on the first two I purchased. The new front T-handle and added D-ring behind the seat are great improvements also.I highly recommend this kayak. My wife and I have both used our kayaks extensively and have found them to be extremely durable. The material they are molded with is almost bullet-proof against rocks, trees and even concrete boat ramps. It does scratch on the surface and that may eventually need to be addressed but it will take an impact better than MUCH more expensive kayaks.The only downside is the paddle is somewhat flimsy and catches a good amount of water in the grooves while paddling but given the paddle is easily replaced it is not really an issue and is s good backup if my replacement paddle ever breaks.

Nice, lightweight, sturdy and tracks well 13 Oct 18 Im giving this a 4 for two reasons: 1. Yesterday was my first time out on it so I dont have a lot of history to go on and want to leave room to rate up or down as I use it more. I was on a calm lake with light wind. I have class 1-2 rapids nearby so Ill need to evaluate it on those and revise the rating later. This is a nice, lightweight, sturdy kayak for the money that tracks well in the water.

The fishing rod holder hole is too far away from the seat. The rod holder is nice, but must be removed (no tools required) prior to transporting or it will get broken. That means its also likely to go missing at some point. The 7 hatches are much less useful than they could be because anything you put in them will get lost inside the hull of the kayak and will be impossible to retrieve without pulling over to shore. Luckily this was easily solved with some 3.5 qt joint compound buckets I had around.

I cut the top off right above the first reinforcement ring and it fits into the hole perfectly (see photos) As others mentioned, you will need the anti-drip rings on the paddle or youll be soaked within a few minutes from water running down the paddle onto you. Unfortunately came with a huge indention on the right side but it might have been from the packaging, it doesnt take away from its performance except it makes it a little noisy when against the current. I received the older version which is great and has thick plastic material; however, I bought the newer version for my dad recently and realized just how weak the materia is.

Im 5 11, 250 lbs and I can get in/out/and maneuver this kayak with no problems. Leg length is more than adequate. Oars are fine and are approx in the 210 - 220 cm range, a little small for me but they are free. Youll definitely want to invest in oar grips and drip rings so you dont get too wet because you will with these oars. This is a very stable kayak and is actually pretty good for fishing.

There are no baffles that separate your storage compartments, the hull is open from front to back so if you store something in the cubby hole and you have lifted the kayak while transporting, all your storage will shift, so heads-up on that. I added an oar holder and thats all I really needed. The 1 Con for me is the seat. My seat strap has a tendency to slip so that if I place pressure on the seat back while paddling, the seat leans further to the back and then it offers no support. So I have to stop and re-adjust the seat.

Im going to have velcro sewed on the strap so it wont slip. Other than that, I really love it. I was able to paddle to some sweet spots and catch some great fish. The pole holder is a plus. This was my starter kayak and Im glad to have purchased it.

So I needed a kayak that was lighter and smaller in order to take it with me whenever I go camping in my travel trailer. The Lifetime Tamarack 100 is not expensive, problably 50+lbs and can be transported on top or inside of my SUV. It is stable in the water and good for fishing. Great For The Money, But Know What Your Getting 25 Aug 18 This really is a great buy for the 220 dollar sale price. But there are a couple of things to know.

The included paddle is cheap, and mine was only 86 inches long making it virtually useless. A decent paddle is 125 bucks and up. The boat is a bit slow, and doesnt track great. Not especially desired for bigger water, paddling against a little current, or long distances. You are limited to 6 inch access holes for storage.

So a 10 liter dry bag will not fit. Nor will relatively small tackle boxes, or full sized spare paddles. However...the boat does have decent maneuverability with working space and cord front and back. It is light enough for one person to handle. And is fairly stable.

Great for floating rivers maybe up to Class 2. And for smaller ponds, reservoir, and creeks. P.S. You can actually stand on this kayak, but it is not made for it. This kayak looks better in person then online, and is really easy to use. The only con so far is the seat is a little uncomfortable (but for the price of kayak where I bought it easily can look over it) and the holes by the seat water likes to splash up so you will get wet (granted you are kayaking so this really isnt a huge issue just putting experience out).

All together this kayak is a great starter if you wanna try kayaking and kayak fishing. Would HIGHLY reccomend this product. I thanked him, advising I was not anticipating such a quick response nor at no cost and that I was also missing a cleat to secure the rear shock cord system. John responded by advising one had been added to the shipment free of charge.

In an era of sub-par customer service this is incredible and a welcome change. Some may say dont get excited they are relatively inexpensive parts, I say it is Lifetimes hassle free approach that made the difference. Its my first Kayak and seems to be pretty well made. As other reviewers have mentioned, get the two plugs for the drains next to the seat, or you butt will be wet instantly. It tracks pretty well and is pretty stable. I felt like the storage behind the seat was pretty useless. You cant really get to it unless you are a contortionist.

Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak 15 Jul 18 I purchased the blue and black version of this kayak Saturday, July 14th after reading all the reviews I could and comparing it to other angler kayaks around the price range and could not be happier with it. This kayak is super stable when fishing and tracks very well. I am 55 and about 150 lbs and it felt solid in the water.I took it out for a few hours and loved every second. For the money I dont believe you can beat this kayak.

The only issue Ive ran into so far is the paddle that comes with the kayak is a little hard to keep a grip when wet (mine kinda slipped around but can be easily fixed with a little grip tape or something of that nature). But for being a beginner of kayaking it might just be me. I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested in kayaking but doesnt want to spend the big bucks on one this is the one you want. The first one I received had a scratch down the side that, on closer inspection, I could stick a fingernail through into the hull area. A call to Wal-Mart quickly got the issue resolved. The freight company picked up the defective kayak and delivered a new one at no extra charge. The new kayak seems fine. Water does get in from the top when it rains and goes into the hull, but I ordered a kayak cover to stop that issue.

It tracks well and seems pretty stable for a kayak. 3 Jul 18 Ordered 2, arrived at store a day early, pickup experience was great. On the river 3 days later. Very stable, easy to control and maneuver, even for a 79 year old. Very satisfied with them.

Decent kayak 1 Jul 18 its a decent kayak for the price. This was my first (and last) kayak. Ive always fished either from shore or from a boat. I ended up returning this because it just wasnt for me. I didnt like having to paddle and fish at the same time.

I also didnt like not being able to stand up. For just a good kayak, this is for you. But if youre wanting to fish from it, maybe look into getting something a hair bigger and that you can stand up in. Fantastic Kayak! 15 Jun 18 Purchased two of these kayaks a few weeks back and man am I glad I did! I was skeptical because of the price point, thinking that the quality might not be there. I was completely wrong. These things are sturdy and all of the kayak is made with durable materials.

The rod holders are made of extremely strong plastic, but the paddles are nothing special though they get the job done. These babies handle just fine out on the big Lake Michigan waters! Highly recommend these yaks. Below I have linked a video of me fishing bass out of them! Go ahead and buy it!

14 Jun 18 This is a great sit-on top fishing kayak for the money! The features are basic, yet adequate. It comes with a paddle and a mounted fishing holder. Its a good width, and a little barge-like, making it easy to get on and off by yourself without too much work. My only complaint is the hatch opens to the whole inside of the kayak so your stuff can slide from side to side depending on what you put in the hatch.
