Hobie Mirage Drive V2 180 Spine Assembly

Ok. This is a mirage drive 180 from a 2021 outback. The drive quickly developed a bad squeak, and the culprit was factory over tensioned chains. This resulted in the front bearing housing wearing. It also caused wear to the nylon bearings and the shaft part of the bearing. The whole unit was replaced under warranty.

So this is for parts or repair. The reverse function works perfectly, and both locating pins are present. I repaired the bearing housing and shaft with jb marine weld which is incredibly strong. The drive could be used as it is, but obviously the bearing repair could fail. It could be sleeved inside the housing and around the bearing shaft with stainless steel tubing, and new nylon needle bearings fitted.

Considering the fact cost of these drives it’s well worth repairing and the rest of it is in great condition. Please see photos for the condition. No returns please and any questions, please ask. For ease of transport, the bearings will be placed in the hollow section of the front housing which is easily removed with the three mounting screws.
