Boat Type: Kayak
Dagger Axiom 9.0 A great kayak for the larger paddler, stable, roomy, and comfortable. It is the only kayak I have found to be equally at home in grade 3 to 4 white-water and in coastal surf. It is fast and edges well, plenty of buoyancy in the bow and enough in the stern to avoid being tail ended in white-water but not so much that it messes up its surfing ability. We have had a lot of 'adventures' over the years and found plenty of river 'features'. The result are the many scrapes on the hull, which I have tried to show in the pictures.
However, there is still plenty of plastic left, there are no splits, and the hull has no dents. Not surprising as these are built like brick outhouses. It has faded from the original red to a fetching shade of pink in places, again I have tried to show this in the photos. If only I discovered UV resistant PTFE polish sooner. Now the bad bits.
Salt water has corroded the grab handles behind the seat, and at the stern. The stern one I have bodged with epoxy, and there is a small crack creeping from the original fixing - I think this was caused by my tying the kayak trolley to it and pulling it across rough ground. For some reason the bow handle is still OK. The seat and thigh pads are OK, but the backrest is in a sorry state and needs replacing. The footrest is fine but I haven't tried loosening any of the adjusting screws.
They are all stainless, so will probably be OK after a bit of penetrating fluid. Comes with stern airbags which are fine.Must be collected by 10th May
