Boat Type: Kayak
Dagger Axiom 9.0 A great kayak for the larger paddler, stable, roomy, andcomfortable. It is the only kayak I have found to be equally at home in grade 3to 4 white-water and in coastal surf. It is fast and edges well, plentyof buoyancy in the bow and enough in the stern to avoid being tail ended in white-waterbut not so much that it messes up its surfing ability. We have had a lot of'adventures' over the years and found plenty of river 'features'. The resultare the many scrapes on the hull, which I have tried to show in the pictures. However, there is still plenty of plastic left, there are no splits, and thehull has no dents.
Not surprising as these are built like brick outhouses. Ithas faded from the original red to a fetching shade of pink in places, again Ihave tried to show this in the photos. If only I discovered UV resistant PTFEpolish sooner. Now the bad bits. Salt water has corroded the grab handlesbehind the seat, and at the stern.
The stern one I have bodged withepoxy, and there is a small crack creeping from the original fixing - I think this was caused by my tying the kayak trolley to it and pulling it across rough ground. Forsome reason the bow handle is still OK. The seat and thigh pads are OK, but thebackrest is in a sorry state and needs replacing. The footrest is finebut I haven't tried loosening any of the adjusting screws. They are allstainless, so will probably be OK after a bit of penetrating fluid.
Comes with stern airbags which are fine.
