17' Touring Sea Kayak, Carbon Fiber Current Designs Pisces Model, 1987

This 17 foot Current Designs carbon fiber sea kayak has seen better days, but it still seaworthy, and last time I used it leaked only a few drops over a several hour paddle. The finish is oxydized, and a coat of acrylic wax makes the whitish residue you see in the photos, but it can be removed with lacquer thinner, and elbow grease. Other less volatile methods may work, you might want to try others. There are no breaches, but she will need to have some maintenance and updates to be used on any long voyages. I have included shots of the worst areas on the hull.

The forward hatch cover is missing,but I believe Current designs still sells them, but I used a home made one from a paint bucket, but it has walked off. The rim of the hatch has a few cracks, but could be sealed. The main hatch has good rubber. The seat has no cracks. The lines were replaced in 2012.

The rudder works with pedals, just fine. It includes a spray skirt, condition unknown but serviceable. I am not a glass man, but i think some careful use of West Systems would take care of the bad areas. New Carbon Fiber boats are expensive and this classic design tracks straight, paddles easy. There is lots of info on this model online.

I will not ship this boat. It will have to be picked up by your shippers, and no money will change hands. The boat is located near Deming, New Mexico, 45 miles East of Las Cruces, in zip code 80030. For not a whole lot of money you can have an operational carbon fiber vessel, that will perform nicely, of consider a full restore.
